Majority of staff at Alno AG's Wellmann 'suspended'

By KBBDaily on 12th October 2017 - 15:40pm

The majority of the 396 employees of Alno AG subsidiary Gustav Wellmann GmbH have been "suspended" except for a core team of 31, who have been kept on for “insolvency-specific handling tasks”, according to Alno AG's insolvency administrator Anchor Rechtsanwälte.

Legally, the staff are still employed by the company but will not be working. The smaller team kept on at the company will continue doing the necessary work related to the daily business.

Alno AG's insolvency administrator, Dr Martin Hörmann, told Wellmann's employees at a staff meeting in Enger earlier today, administration firm Anchor Rechtsanwälte said.

According to Anchor, the redundancies are due to “the liquidity situation of Wellmann”. Hörmann added that his team are “in talks” to negotiate compensation for the employees by the end of this month.

Anchor added that the investor process for Alno AG and its subsidiaries continues. Earlier this month, kitchen furniture manufacturer Nobilia acquired Pino Küchen as part of an investor group from Alno AG, alongside the workforce of Coswig-based Alno Logistik & Service.
