British Ceramic Tile – BCT – has named John Chater as its new commercial director, which is a new senior position within the business.

According to BCT, Chater has spent 20 years working with large food businesses including Coca-Cola, Refresco and Tulip. He has joined BCT from e-commerce business Musclefood, where he expanded the brand into retail and wholesale channels.

In his new role, Chater will take responsibility for BCT’s sales, marketing, design and product development departments, and will focus on bolstering the brand’s presence “across all markets”.

“John comes from the food industry and brings considerable expertise that will complement our existing skill set as we continue to grow our brand in 2018,” said BCT CEO Tony Taylor.

Chater added: “It’s a great time to join the business with plenty of challenges and opportunities ahead. The company has some big goals to achieve in what is a challenging market, but our focus is firmly set on supporting our trade and retail partners to grow their share of the market, as well as continuing our mission to be the leading tile brand in the UK.”
