Retailers were given tips on how to make the most of showroom design and display at sink and tap manufacturer Franke's first seminar in the More in Store expert series.

Professional interior designer Elaine Cowan, who has been a retailer at Cameron Interiors for the past 20 years, led the seminar at Franke's head office in Manchester on Wednesday.

Cowan revealed to 10 retailers how design, atmosphere and flow affect customer engagement, and gave tips on getting more customers through the door and how to keep a showroom ‘ready for business’ at all times. Attendees were also given the opportunity to ask Cowan specific questions after the seminar.

Rob Caroll from Cara Design in Heswall, Wirral, said the seminar content and speaker were “excellent”. Tru Kitchens of Wilmslow design consultant Rufus Wainwright added: “It affirmed to us that our new showroom will be fit for purpose, and I think that everyone went away with some things to consider. It was very useful and enjoyable.

Franke marketing operations manager Steve Rutter said many retailers have showed an interest in Franke’s one-hour, one-to-one consultation with Cowan, which is free.

He added: “Retailers came armed with questions, some with photographs and one mailed a video walk-through of their showroom to seek Elaine’s advice, and this is just the sort of interaction and engagement we were hoping for.”

The Showroom Design seminar will be held at three more venues this week. It will take place at MacDonald Ansty Hotel, Ansty, near Coventry, on Tuesday; Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden, London, on Wednesday; and Aztec Hotel, Almondsbury, Bristol, on Thursday. To reserve a place call Franke on 0161 436 6280 or email debi.meakin@franke.com.
