The Glen Dimplex Group has today confirmed that it has acquired Blackpool-based Britannia Living. A statement on the group's website says: "We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Britannia Living Appliances, a leading supplier of premium traditional and contemporary range cookers based in Blackpool, England."

Further details of the acquisition are currently unavailable.

The privately owned Glen Dimplex Group operates brands such as Belling, Lec, New World and Stoves through Merseyside-based GDHA. Range cooker specialist Britannia was founded in 1995 as JCA Marketing, before becoming Britannia Domestic Appliances in 1996. It changed its name to The Rangecooker Company when it was brought to the AIM stock exchange in 1997. In 2002 a management buyout took the company off the stock exchange and it was rebranded as Britannia Living Ltd. It recently rejoined the KBSA after a 10-year absence, alongside brands Bertazzoni and Best, which it also distributes in the UK.

More to follow on this story as and when it develops.
