Viktorija Bernataviciute, Jonah Kellar and Giuseppe Giorgio Finocchio have each been awarded 12-month funded work placements at three Michelin-starred restaurants – The Kitchin, The Elephant and Casamia – after being chosen as the winners of this year's Electrolux Chef Academy competition.

Led by Simon Hulstone, head chef and proprietor of The Elephant restaurant, seven aspiring chefs were chosen to compete in the grand final, where they had to work as a team to create a three-course meal for the judging panel, which consisted of Michelin-starred chef Nigel Haworth, Craft Guild of Chefs CEO Martin Bates, and Electrolux Professional's Andy Blakemore.

“Individually the three winners were all excellent but ultimately they came together well in their team and showed stand-out qualities, such as skill, determination and good attitude that would be perfectly suited in any kitchen brigade,” said Hulstone. They will work with Michelin-starred chefs Hulstone, Tom Kitchin, and Jonray and Peter Sanchez-Iglesias at their respective restaurants on a rotational basis over the course of the 12-month placement. Electrolux will also award each of the winners' colleges with a Professional Touchline Combi-Steam oven.

Vanessa Holloway, Electrolux marketing manager, said: “All three winners particularly impressed the judges with their skills, attitude and ability to keep calm in a high-pressure situation. We wish them every success on their placements.”
