Moduleo owner opens ‘world’s largest vinyl flooring factory’

IVC Group – the parent company of vinyl flooring company Moduelo UK and Eire – has launched a new 21,000sq m factory, which it says is the “world’s largest” of its kind and will double worldwide production.

The new factory – located at IVC’s global headquarters in Avelgem, Belgium – is the equivalent of three football pitches, the company said, and will enable it to “meet increasing demand from architects, construction specifiers and consumers”.

IVC is aiming to produce 15 million sq m of product annually. The new environmentally friendly plant – which has created 200 new jobs – uses sustainable energy from wind turbines and water from the Scheldt river for its cooling processes.

“High-grade, modular vinyl flooring has become a global success because of its innovative designs, realistic look and creative design potential,” said Moduleo UK and Eire managing director David Bigland.

“Thanks to the brand-new, showcase factory, which boasts the latest lean manufacturing processes, we can produce higher quantities more efficiently. In addition, we are benefiting from doubled warehouse capacity and a conveyor bridge between production and logistics.”
