Exactly 165,940 potentially affected customers have come forward since the Whirlpool recall campaign was announced last December, an Office for Product Safety and Standards article reveals.

The article, which details Whirlpool recall statistics as of the end of 4 February 2020, also revealed that over 124 thousand models have been confirmed as affected by the fault.

Monitoring metrics also deemed over 85,000 of the ‘affected’ cases as fully resolved, with over half which being replaced free of charge, and the others being confirmed as not having the faulty lock mechanism.

The data, supplied by Whirlpool to Office for Product Safety and Standards, also noted that the average time taken from a customer registration to resolution was 29.3 days, whilst it took, on average, 9.4 days for a product exchange.
