Smeg UK has expressed its delight at seeing Kyle Edmund – who the company began sponsoring in 2011 – make it through to the semi-finals of the Australian Open Grand Slam, beating World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov.

Edmund – who has risen to the rank of British No. 2 – was playing and establishing his career in the juniors side at Wimbledon when he was 16.

Smeg UK sponsored the young player during the tournament, gifting Edmund with one of its iconic fridges in the “white of Wimbledon”, pictured left, to help “support and inspire” him during his training programmes.

“We’re big supporters of the tennis here at Smeg and for many years worked with players at Wimbledon,” said Smeg UK marketing head John Davies.

“Testament to all the training, hard work, determination and talent he has, we’re delighted to have seen Kyle’s continued success,” he added.
