Omega Plc has welcomed Simon Barber, pictured, as its new CEO, taking over from Peter Walker in the role, as well as appointing two new senior sales executives.

Barber has been with the company since 2009, when he joined as group finance director. He has previously worked at several international companies including Cadbury Schweppes and Greencore Group.

Richard Adam – who joined Omega as financial controller in 2010 – will take over from Barber in the role of group finance director, the company said.

David Pound and Nick Weallens have also joined the company as national account manager and area sales manager, respectively. Pound previously worked at Mereway for 15 years, most recently as key account director, while Weallens joined from his role of senior business development manager at Symphony.

“Omega has performed exceptionally well in all areas in the last 12 months with continued growth and record turnover,” said founder and chairman Bob Murray. “Simon has a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as considerable energy, vision and ambition to drive Omega forward.”

He added: “We are also delighted to welcome Nick and David to Omega. They are both highly experienced professionals in the industry and will further strengthen our retail management team.”
