The Kitchen & Bathroom Buying Group – KBBG – which is part of Der Kreis, unveiled several new partnerships at its annual members’ meeting, which took place on the 11th June at the Hilton Hotel near Heathrow Airport.

The buying group is now working with OnePlan, a freelance independent concept planning service that creates kitchen and bathroom designs for customers, who can then take the complete designs to retailers. According to KBBG, 85% of OnePlan’s customers are currently purchasing kitchens and bathrooms from the large retailers, but the company will work with the KBBG to support local independent specialists.

The KBBG also announced its partnership with Mascari for a kitchen design training course, offering a reduced rate to KBBG members for its two-day course at its training facility in Nottingham.

Lastly, the buying group revealed kitchenspecialist.com, a new consumer website from Der Kreis. KBBG managing director Bill Miller noted at the conference that 70% of UK consumers currently research online before buying products, so the website’s aim is to increase visibility for KBBG members by covering the benefits of buying from a kitchen specialist.

The company aims to have the consumer website up and running by the end of this year, and is also working on an accompanying print magazine that it aims to release next year. The website will feature trends, a retailer search facility for KBBG members, an online kitchen planner, and will be accompanied by a range of in-store POS.

Prior to talks by Trend Monitor’s Jane Blakeborough, Born Social’s Abbey Mills and architectural designer Charlie Luxton on changing consumer trends and how to tackle social media, Miller also announced that next year marks the 40th anniversary of Der Kreis, with the company set to hold its Der Kreis Congress in Stuttgart in May.
