Wiltshire-based bespoke cabinet and kitchen maker Smallbone of Devizes is commemorating its 40th anniversary with a special pop-up exhibition in collaboration with Maddox Gallery during London Design Festival 2018, taking place on the 15th-23rd September.

Smallbone called Maddox Gallery a “natural partner” for its pop-up exhibition, which will display Smallbone’s original hand painted and pilaster kitchens alongside mixed media pieces by Damien Hirst, Mark Quinn, David Yarrow and The Connor Brothers.

The company will also be holding a series of workshops – called ‘Off-Cuts: Design, Art & Making for a Sustainable Future’ – with appliance manufacture Miele, which will take place in Smallbone’s flagship showroom in South Kensington.

Four Pillars Gin will be creating a bespoke Smallbone cocktail for the workshops, which will focus on the Brompton Design District’s 2018 theme, material consequences. Miele’s Frederick Forster will be holding a cooking demonstration using sustainable and locally sourced ingredients, while The Palace Gardener will reveal “secrets of the urban garden” with a masterclass in herb propagation.
