Canadian manufacturer and distributor Danby Appliances has entered the UK market to commence its expansion into Europe, and will be selling its range of products – including fridges, freezers and wine chillers – through distributor Exertis from November.

Former Vestel UK managing director John Welbourn will be heading up Danby’s launch in the UK and Ireland, as well as the brand’s further launch into the rest of Europe. “Danby is one of North America’s most compelling home comfort and appliance brands producing specialist products for over 70 years.

“In appointing Exertis, one of Europe’s largest and fastest growing distribution houses, we have a partner who offers us a proven and dynamic route to many market sectors with the relationships, capacity and desire we require to achieve our brand plans.”

Exertis said it will initially offer a selection of Danby’s freestanding compact fridges, chest freezers and beverage and wine coolers. “Bringing [Danby’s] products to the UK and Europe will be a great opportunity to provide our retailers with a competitively priced range of appliances that pack big features into small spaces,” said Exertis core electricals general manager Harriet Croft.

“Danby is a great addition to our core electricals portfolio which we are steadily building and it’s an exciting opportunity to grow their presence outside of North America.”

Danby president Jim Estill added: “The UK is an important step in our ambition to develop and grow our European footprint. We look forward to building long term profitable relationships with our partners in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.”
