Franke’s recently launched stainless steel work surface range has been featured on a new episode of Channel 4’s Grand Designs, which aired earlier this month and will be repeated on the 23rd October on 4seven.

The company’s PureSteel surface was chosen for the self-build in Sheffield undertaken by identical twins Nik and Jon Daughtry, pictured – owners of local design business DED – which made use of a disused industrial area with a water wheel and lake.

Nik and Jon each chose Franke’s PureSteel surface for their homes. The worktops were made bespoke to order and coated in Franke’s PearlFinish, a glass ceramic coating designed to repel water and be heat-resistant up to 300 degrees.

The pair also each chose Franke’s solid stainless steel Minerva Mondial Electronic 4-in-1 tap and sister brand KWC’s undermount Ono sink. “We really wanted to create striking homes that echo our love for Sheffield’s heritage by using steel throughout the build,” said Nik.

“We chose Franke’s worksurfaces because the PureSteel product, with its ceramic coating, has an exquisite aesthetic, unlike anything else we had ever seen and that immediately gave us an interesting design take on steel.”

Franke UK managing director Neil Clark added: “As you can tell from the show, this was a very complex and ambitious build project and everyone had to work to a tight timescale, but our installation partners F Jones of Cleveland expertly completed the job with millimetre-perfect precision.”
