Whirlpool Corporation wins innovation awards at CES 2019

Whirlpool Corporation has won five Innovation awards at consumer technology exhibition CES 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada for several of its new and upcoming products, including KitchenAid’s Cook Processor Connect and Whirlpool Smart all-in-one washer and dryer.

The KitchenAid Smart Oven+ with powered attachments, Whirlpool Connected Hub wall oven concept, pictured, and Yummly digital recipe platform also took home Innovation awards, which recognise “outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics”.

“We’re thrilled to be honoured by the Consumer Technology Association for the fifth consecutive year,” said Brett Dibkey, vice president of brand and strategy for North America at Whirlpool Corporation.

“This year, we’ve expanded our CES presence, including smart home products from our larger brand portfolio to showcase how each empowers our consumers to connect to more – whether that means more personalized homemade meals, more and different ways to care for their loved ones, or more passion in the kitchen.”

The company recently conducted a 2,000-person-strong survey to find out better what smart features consumers are looking for in products. Close to 75% of respondents said they are interested in smart appliance features that reduce food waste and manage water usage.

Nearly 80% said they would like features that help them save money, while 64% think its important that appliances help save on electricity costs. Nearly 70% said they “actively seek out products” that can be personalised to their unique preferences.

Speaking about the new products on display at the show, Dibkey added: “Evolving our presence at CES to a multi-brand experience is a natural progression as we roll out portfolio-wide smart innovations to meet the demand for a smart home ecosystem.

“As a corporation, we’re singularly focused on using smart technology to positively change our consumers’ lives. Our products should offer them a means to care for their loved ones, create truly personalized meals, and really enhance the cooking experience they are already passionate about.”
