UK stainless steel manufacturer Pland Stainless recently welcomed HRH Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, pictured centre, to its engineering facility as part of the company’s centenary celebrations.

The company – which recently also welcomed Lord Mayor of Leeds, councillor Graham Latty to its Leeds factory – gave Prince Edward a tour of its engineering facility, accompanied by Lord Lieutenant Ed Anderson, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, councillor Pat Latty.

Prince Edward met all 45 staff on the tour, which was led by Pland Stainless production manager Alison Harling, pictured right alongside Pland Stainless’s James Annan, left, who works the brake press machine.

“The event has been a great success,” said Pland Stainless managing director Steve Duree. “At the end of his tour Prince Edward unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion which will be proudly displayed in our reception area.

“Everyone enjoyed the event and after he departed, we had a celebratory lunch and all staff have taken the afternoon off. It’s not every day a UK manufacturer celebrates 100 years in business with a royal guest.”
