Wren Kitchens has been named the UK’s “best retail employer” in a survey conducted by Indeed, beating other large retailers such as Ikea, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer to take the top spot.

The rankings of the league table are based on “millions of employee ratings and company reviews”, Wren said, and focus on factors including career progression, culture, job security, benefits and salaries.

Employees of Wren – which has a work force of more than 4,400 – said they are “highly valued” and “well looked after”. Wren said it provides on-site gyms and “healthy subsidised food and drink” in its restaurants.

The company also has a dedicated training academy at its Barton-upon-Humber headquarters in Lincolnshire. “We are delighted to receive this recognition and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete a review,” said managing director Mark Pullan.

“Wren has grown at an amazing pace since we set it up almost 10 years ago and the fact that we are already the UK’s number one kitchen retailer is a testament to the amazing team of people we have. We are very fortunate to have 4,412 people who are passionate, hardworking and focused on doing their best for our customers, and this culture permeates the entire business.”

He added: “Many of our team have been with us from the beginning of the journey and it has been wonderful to watch them develop as the business has grown. The business is continuing to expand and we are always looking for ambitious people who share our ethos and who want to build a rewarding career.”
