The UK Plumber of the Year competition – held by JT, Bristan and Wolseley – has launched for the fifth year, with WaterSafe returning as the competition’s official judging partner to shortlist 15 plumbers from across the UK.

Open until the 28th June, everyone who submits an application will be entered into a prize draw to win a 12-month membership with Checkatrade, as well as being offered a free webinar from Vendigo Finance on the growth of a boiler installer through point of sale finance.

The five plumbers who receive the highest number of public votes after the deadline will go through to the grand final, set to be held at Bristan headquarters later this year. To mark the 2019 edition of the competition, Plumbing News TV has made a video with the previous winners in an “action-packed” special report.

This year sees the “biggest ever prize fund”, with prizes including up to £2,000 of branded JT trays, £1,000 of Bristan products, a £1,000 Nabis bathrooms voucher from Wolseley, an iPod and AirPods from Vendigo Finance, and a trip to Cornwall from Proper Job beer.

“We love being a part of this competition and to watch it grow as we enter our fifth year is fantastic,” said JT sales and marketing director John Schofield. “Our past winners really showcase the incredible talent we have in the UK, and we’re looking forward to finding the latest plumbing talent to take the title in 2019.”

Wolseley plumbing category director Phil Viner added: “The Plumber of the Year competition is a fantastic opportunity for the best in our trade to be recognised for their ongoing hard work. Last year we saw some great examples of the personalities that make our industry tick, so we are looking forward to seeing even more entries this time around!”
