Scottish kitchen designer Kitchens International – KI – has created a new standalone division, KI Interiors, to cater to the commercial interiors contracts market, which will be headed up by top KI designer Helen Taylor.

KI said there was a gap in the Scottish market for specialist designers in the restaurant, hotel, interior shops and dining facilities interiors sector. The new KI Interiors division has already completed several commercial interiors contracts, including a “contemporary new look” for Dusit Restaurant, a Thai restaurant in Edinburgh.

Other contracts already completed by KI Interiors include the new Martin Wishart Cook School and Dining Room in Edinburgh, and the buffet dining and breakfast room in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Edinburgh. “In every space that is being used by consumers, the interior is as important as the product on offer,” said KI Interiors brand director Paul O’Brien.

“Utilitarian and institutional designs are no longer acceptable in many hospitality, dining or retail facilities, which is why we saw the need to create this new commercial division. Our skills and experience from many years in kitchen design can be transferred easily to create commercial interiors that will excite our new customers.”
