The Furniture Makers’ Company has named Dids Macdonald – CEO of design and intellectual property membership Anti Copying in Design – as the organisation’s 58th Master, succeeding Hayden Davies in the role.

Macdonald is the second female Master in the furnishing industry charity’s history. Her installation ceremony took place at St Mary-le-Bow Church in London, followed by a commemorative dinner in the Egyptian Room at Mansion House with 220 guests in attendance.

In her speech to guests, Macdonald said she would focus on increasing awareness of the charity’s welfare support provision to industry workers through the launch of a new ‘One Step at a Time’ campaign.

“I plan on raising awareness about our charitable giving so that every single individual knows where to come if a curveball strikes. As well as encouraging more women to join our ranks, I will do everything I can to raise awareness about the looming skills gap crisis.”

She added: “To represent the furnishings industry as Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company is not only an honour but a huge opportunity to champion the outstanding work of this talented sector.”
