Brits’ most desired bathroom tech revealed

British homeowners’ most desired technology for the bathroom has been revealed in a survey by, with 83% saying they want a self-cleaning toilet, while 69% would like digital controls for precise temperature, spray and timing in their shower.

More than 65% of the 1,424 British homeowners surveyed said they would like mood lighting fitted in their bathtub, while 41% would like a built-in heated backrest and 62% want a “built-in scented mist dispenser”.

For toilets, 55% want a self-deodoriser function, while 31% wanted a heated seat. Brits also desire mood lighting – 55% – and a built-in sound system – 48% – in their showers. Less than half want to see water conservation technology at just 41%.

A third voted for wall-mounted touch-panel interface technology, while 52% would like to see warming drawers, similar to a heated towel rail. Close to half voted for virtual reality showers that can project “serene scenes”, while 28% opted for refrigerated bathroom cabinets.
