Brits’ most searched-for bathroom trends revealed

New research by bathroom supplier Sanctuary Bathrooms has uncovered the top Google searches from Brits on new bathroom trends and designs, including black toilets, freestanding copper bathtubs and grey tiles.

Consumers are searching for grey, herringbone and patterned tiles with 22,370 average monthly searches, as well as grey bathroom tiles – 8,100 average monthly searches – and LED pendant ceiling lights – 23,000 average monthly searches.

In terms of sanitaryware, key search terms Brits are Googling for toilets are ‘black’, ‘back-to-wall’ and ‘close coupled’ – 14,080 average monthly searches; ‘square’, ‘wooden’ and ‘soft-close’ toilet seats – 18,700 monthly searches; ‘black’, ‘double sinks’ with ‘mixer taps’ – 12,100 average monthly searches; ‘electric’, ‘single shower enclosures’ – 57,200 average monthly searches; and ‘copper’, ‘freestanding’, ‘L-shaped’, ‘roll-top bath tubs’ with ‘mixer taps’ – 35,640 average monthly searches.

For furniture and accessories, there were 35,700 average monthly searches for ‘mirrored’ and ‘wooden’ sink cabinets and 24,200 average monthly searches for ‘tall’, ‘freestanding’ and ‘white corner’ cabinets. People also searched for black and chrome bathroom accessories; wooden bathmats and double towel rails.

“Monitoring demands and trends from UK consumers is incredibly important to our business’s success,” said Sanctuary Bathrooms CEO James Roberts. “What potential customers search for allows us to be prepared for what people want.

“This data has highlighted some interesting finds for us. The freestanding bath continues to be a popular choice, after rising as a trend a few years ago. There also seems to be a substantial lean towards separate shower and bath enclosures in this research. New colour trends are also interesting to note, with consumers seemingly captured by darker tones, with greys and blacks both present in our findings.”
