Electrolux Group is investing €130m in its refrigeration manufacturing facility in Susegana, Italy, as part of the company’s manufacturing investment program that began in 2018 and will total SEK 8bn – around £683m – over four to five years.

The investment is earmarked for automation, digitalisation and “improved innovation capabilities through new modularised product platform” at the plant. Electrolux said the improvements are expected to generate annual cost savings of around SEK 3bn – £256m – from 2024.

The changes to the plant are expected to be completed in 2022, with the investment including two new assembly lines as well as resources for product and process development.

Electrolux said the capital injection will “support the competitiveness of Electrolux built-in refrigeration products and enable the company to achieve top performance levels in coming European energy label regulations”.
