The Furniture Makers’ Company recently held the 25th edition of its Big Shots annual clay pigeon shoot at Holland and Holland in Northwood, Middlesex, raising more than £34,000 for the furnishing industry charity.

Close to 200 people attended the event, which saw 44 teams compete in a shooting contest, followed by a three-course meal accompanied by a raffle, auction and wine pull.

Former Bath and England rugby player Victor Ubogu then treated guests to an after-lunch talk about his career. Daniel Spencer of Ideal Furniture then brought the day to a close by firing Holland and Holland’s antique cannon.

“Even a slightly wet day could not dampen the spirits of what was a cracking event, raising a staggering £34,000,” said Furniture Makers’ master Dids Macdonald. “Congratulations to all participants and, of course, thank you to our sponsors, your unfailing generosity and support to help those in our industry never fails to amaze me.”
