Acres Consultancy – launched by former Omega director and KBSA retail corporate chairman Simon Acres, pictured right – has joined furnishing industry charity The Furniture Makers’ Company – FMC.

Acres was admitted as a freeman to the charity during a young professional industry experience lunch. “I am delighted to have become part of this worthwhile organisation,” he said.

“The FMC helps individuals with financial assistance and advice when times are tough. All well as providing essential help and support FMC also drives excellence and high standards and promotes education for the future of the industry.”

He added: “It is a great way to be involved, share knowledge and experiences, and a fantastic way to support the vibrant furnishing industry to which we all belong.

“I was impressed by the young people that made their presentations after a three-week project visiting furniture companies across the UK to understand all areas of the furniture industry supply chain. In particular, questions post-presentation were handled professionally and with intelligent answers.”

Furniture Makers’ master Dids Macdonald, pictured left, added: “It was such a pleasure to welcome Simon as a Freeman. I am delighted that he has indicated his wish to immerse himself in supporting our work and give something back to this industry.”
