Simon Taylor Furniture managing director Simon Taylor, pictured right, and County Construction managing director Alan Hunt, left, are taking on the Back and Fourth Rally to raise funds for Orchid, a charity that raises awareness of testicular and other male cancers.

The duo – with the team name of Thunderbolts – will be taking on the 4,000 mile European round trip, which starts in Calais on the 16th September and ends in Amsterdam on the 22nd September, stopping off in Rome, Athens, Zagreb, Sofia, Bucharest and Vienna on the way.

To take part in the rally, each team has to undertake several challenges, the first of which is to purchase a Mini Cooper convertible with full MOT for less than £1,000. The teams then have to drive for 24 hours a day and must keep the soft-top roof down for the entire journey whatever the weather.

Taylor and Hunt purchased their burnt orange Mini Cooper convertible in July. “We are very pleased to be taking part in the Back and Fourth Rally, which will be challenging to say the least, but it is for a very good cause,” said Taylor.

“Orchid is an inspirational charity that raises awareness of male cancers. Too many of us know someone close to us who has been affected by cancer, and every penny we can raise will go towards helping saving lives in the future.”
