Appliance manufacturer Hoover has named David Matthews as its new business director for its small domestic appliance – SDA – product division.

Matthews has previously worked in senior management positions for Gtech and Shark, having held the title of sales vice president during the time Shark launched its first vacuum range in the UK.

In his new role, Matthews will be responsible for growing Hoover’s floorcare product division through product development, as well as overseeing market opportunities for the Hoover brand.

“Hoover is a trusted and iconic brand across the world, with a fantastic heritage in the UK,” said Matthews. “As such, retailers and customers expect a lot from us, and so they should, which means that we need to deliver time and time again.

“In the new role, it is my responsibility to drive forward the floorcare categories and bring to market products which delight and add value to the user. I’m looking forward to delivering ambitious yet achievable growth plans that will align with the group’s business objectives.”

Hoover Candy Group UK CEO David Meyerowitz added: “David is a fantastic appointment for us at a time when we’re achieving considerable growth, from both sales and company culture. His wealth of experience in the floorcare sector is invaluable at a time when we are launching high performance, market-leading products that deliver tangible user benefits.”
