Kitchen retailer Wren Kitchens has welcomed IT graduates Kye Smith, Callum Harrison and Alex Redshaw to its Wren Kitchens IT Academy, with the trio set to move onto permanent roles within the company’s IT team.

Wren said it “attracted applicants far and wide from across the world” for its IT Academy, including 20 universities in the UK. The company added its aim is to double the capacity of its IT function over the next year to “help continue to drive the success of the business”.

Redshaw, pictured right, studied maths and computer science at Leeds Becket University, while Harrison, centre, studied computer science at the University of Hull and Smith, left, has experience in programming.

The programme includes tech training, immersion into Wren’s systems including virtual reality, web applications, the company website and 3D kitchen planning software, before the three begin working on real-life projects for the business.

The second phase of the programme will see another group of PHP and JavaScript graduate developers start in November.

“We’re confident that these future IT stars will make a real difference to the success of the business as they will learn how to develop the most advanced technology for customers and our Wren family,” said Wren Kitchens IT director Craig Douglas.

“We’re committed to investing in training and development, as well as offering career opportunities within the business to ensure our graduates can succeed in a long and successful career here at Wren.”
