The Bathroom Manufacturers Association – BMA – will debut a new online tool at a compliance seminar being held the day before its 2019 Bathroom & Kitchen Business Conference, which takes place on the 8th October at the Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire.

The new tool was developed in partnership with Keele University and will identify the relevant standards and regulations that products should comply with when sold and installed in the UK market, the BMA said.

The compliance seminar will also include presentations from BMA technical director Andy McLean, NHIC CEO Anna Scothern and Nick Kingett from Nottinghamshire County Council, which is the BMA’s Trading Standards primary authority.

“Compliance is a major issue in the bathroom industry, with many retailers and manufacturers not understanding their legal obligations,” said BMA CEO designate Tom Reynolds. “It is a complex area, with many pieces of legislation and the water regulations to consider.

“The new tool will demystify what it means to be compliant, helping consumers understand what they should be looking for, and supporting the industry by detailing what is needed to comply,” Reynolds added.
