The Bathroom Manufacturers Association – BMA – has raised £3,895 for the Children’s Burns Trust – CBT – through its members which have supported the organisation’s golf days and charity raffles that took place during previous BMA Bathroom & Kitchen Business Conferences.

“We are delighted that members were so generous in support of this important charity,” said BMA CEO Yvonne Orgill. “Every pound raised makes a huge difference to the work that they do. The CBT are the only UK children’s charity working nationally, devoted to the rehabilitation and support of burn and scald injured children and their families.”

The CBT works closely with the British Burn Association and other organisations, such as the National Fire Chief’s Council, to highlight “the shocking number of children burnt and scalded each year” and “promote good practice to reduce and avoid these dreadful accidents”.

According to the BMA, recent figures show that scalds are the most common cause of burn injury for adults and children, making up 43% of acute burn injuries. An estimated 110 children on average are seen per day in emergency departments with burn injuries.

“We are hoping to continue our support from this year’s golf day, which takes place on 26th September at the Belfry Hotel, and our charity raffle at the Bathroom and Kitchen conference on 8th October,” Orgill added.
