KBB Ark interviews Richard Court, national training manager for Laufen Bathrooms. Find out more about their latest sleek shower toilet called Cleanet Riva.

Laufen is a Swiss bathroom manufacturer with 126 years of history, innovations, inventions and collaborations with some of the top market-leading designers within the industry. The brand set up its first factory in 1892 and then went on to invent the wall-hung pan in 1964, pressure casting method in 1983 and SaphirKeramik, a super-strong ceramic material in 2013. 

After doing some research, the brand found out that consumers thought shower toilets were ugly, very complicated and unhygienic. So, when Cleanet Riva was launched two years ago, the first thing they discussed with Peter Wirz, their Swiss designer was that it had to look like a normal toilet. 

Riva is extremely simplistic to use. There is a wireless button on the side that you press for the shower arm to come out and wash you. You can turn the pressure up or down with the button or use a wireless controller. You can also use the button to move the arm backwards and forwards or turn it off.   

There is also an extractor to take the odours away from around the toilet. Riva is rimless and has a night light at the base that will flash to indicate if the appliance needs to be descaled, and it comes with a built-in descaler.
