Entrants are asked to draw, paint or print their own pattern for a new tile in a 13cm x 13cm square and give their design a creative name. The firm's creative director will judge the entries and select three winners in different age categories. The winning designs will go into production and be available for purchase on Ca'Pietra's website.

In addition, 10% of profits from the sales of the winning entries will go to Together for Short Lives, a charity which supports seriously ill children and their families.

The contest, which runs until the end of June, is open to children in the UK up the age of 16.

The company gave the following advice to youngsters keen to enter:

  • Be bold.
  • Be inspired by nature.
  • Be creative and have fun.
  • Try using different colours, patterns and prints.
  • You can draw, paint or print your design.
  • Look at tile designs on our website, www.capietra.com
  • Most of all, have fun.
