How to ensure VR headset hygiene in line with Covid-19 measures
Virtual Worlds shares best practice for using virtual reality equipment to give customers peace of mind

Providing peace of mind and reassurance to customers that the showroom experience is Covid-safe will be a huge part of helping restore consumer confidence in the weeks and months ahead.
Leading kbb software firm Virtual Worlds has issued guidelines for ensuring that VR equipment is handled with the highest hygiene standards, to reassure customers and provide them with a safe and enjoyable buying experience.
The good news is that virtual reality headsets are easy to wipe clean after every use. Furthermore, adhesive disposable facemasks can be fitted to a wipeable cushioned face guard, allowing retailers to put their customers’ minds at ease.
Retailers are advised to use hand sanitiser before handling the headset and disinfect with disposable wipes, spraying with scented disinfectant and attaching a fresh hygiene mask for each customer.
Once these precautions in place, says the firm, 'the Virtual Worlds experience is completely hands free, with no controllers, further minimising points of contact'.
Virtual Worlds Managing Director Nathan Maclean comments: 'These are all good hygiene protocols to use at any time, but obviously as showrooms re-open to the public following the pandemic it is more important than ever that consumers feel safe and protected.'
'Virtual Worlds virtual reality is still the best selling tool that retailers have at their disposal and will be important in the journey to encouraging traffic back to the showroom.'
