It's show time: Essential Kitchen and Bathroom Business magazine's kbb Birmingham preview
Kbb Birmingham is back at the NEC from 1 - 4 March 2020. Here are just some of the highlights in store for visitors to the UK’s largest dedicated KBB exhibition
The start of March will see the return of the UK’s biggest gathering of key kitchen, bathroom and bedroom brands under one roof. According to organisers UBM, the show will feature new product launches from over 400 exhibitors, and more than 16,000 buying professionals and senior decision makers are expected to travel to the show over the four days.
Eight sponsors are supporting the event – Blum, Newform, Perrin & Rowe, Rotpunkt, Caple, Sensio, Blanco and XTone – and all exhibitors have been invited to enter the Innovation Awards, the winners of which will be announced at the show. Visitors to the exhibition, which was established in 1985, will be able to decide the People’s Choice Award by voting via the event mobile app or at online voting stations. “The Innovation Awards is always a highlight of the show as it’s a real indicator of all the exciting innovation in the industry,” says kbb Birmingham director, Mark Gordon.
With spotting innovation and emerging trends high on the list of priorities for visitors from the retail and contract sectors, manufacturers will be using the biennial event to launch new products and emphasise the appeal of their brands to potential and existing customers. “Giving new contacts and established connections the chance to see our latest collections is a key part of getting to know our brand and philosophy,” says Matt Phillips, head of operations for Rotpunkt UK. “We are passionate about product development that will help retailers to boost sales, and are looking forward to the opportunity to reach out to new potential business partners and future relations.”

The Der Kreis Kitchen & Bathroom Buying Group will be showcasing products from two of its suppliers on its exhibition stand, one of which will be Beckermann furniture, shown here. Visitors will also be able to meet the KBBG team, who will be on hand to explain the benefits of the organisation, including new business support opportunities such as its consumer finance package. There will also be a raft of exhibition offers for current members.

Regular exhibitor Roman is back this year with its focus set to be the launch of the fluted options for its Liberty Glass Wetroom Panel, which it has been supplying to the hotel and hospitality market for some time, but is now unveiling to the retail market. Also on the stand will be its Innov8 Sliders and Quadrants, which are now available in Matt Black, as well as black-grid hinged doors with inline panels.

As in 2018, Hettich is going to be providing a hospitality area that reflects its German heritage. Visitors to the stand will be able to enjoy bratwurst, pretzels, beer, tea, coffee and soft drinks, while taking a break and viewing samples of the brand’s new AvanTech YOU concept. Taking its cue from the megatrend of individuality, AvanTech YOU offers users design flexibility with a choice of drawer runners on a common template.

Occupying a suite situated by the main bathroom entrance in Hall 20, the Roca Group brands – Roca, Laufen, Cosmic and Armani/Roca – will be showcasing their latest bathroom innovations with an emphasis on design, technology and sustainability. Among the highlights will be Roca’s Beyond Colours collection, which reflects the current emerging trend for coloured products in the bathroom.

When it comes to new launches, the issue of carbon neutral products is set to be prioritised on Rotpunkt’s stand, with the brand saying that it is blazing a trail with a new range of 100% carbon neutral kitchen furniture. It will also be displaying new dimensions, surface textures and door colours, push-to-open fittings, and its Cubes wall storage systems. A selection of metal and stone-effect doors will also be showcased.
Caple

This year the brand says that it is going to be creating an experience on its stand to make an impression on visitors. To be showcased alongside new design-led launches that are still under wraps, one of the star products on Caple’s stand is set to be the Karns single-lever tap with a gold finish. Returning to kbb for the second time as Caesarstone UK, the company will be highlighting its most recent launches –
the Primordia and Empira White quartz surfaces. Primordia is part of the brand’s Metropolitan collection, and with its cool, light grey complexion, it echoes the character of concrete, while Empira White is an interpretation of Calacatta marble, with a white base and dark veining.

Among the highlights on Salice’s stand will be the new version of its Exedra pocket-door system, which incorporates a linear magnetic damper that controls the movement as it moves in and out of its recess. The brand will also be highlighting the Excessories range with storage solutions created to optimise space, and the Silentia+ deceleration system, which delivers a smooth closing action across a range of hinges for doors.
Perrin and Rowe

Perrin & Rowe will be exhibiting alongside brand partners Victoria & Albert Baths and Shaws of Darwen to create a space full of design potential. Details of a new kitchen range are being withheld until the event, but the brand has confirmed that the new Hoxton wall-mounted bath filler is set to be unveiled there. A blend of old and new styles, the Hoxton comes in Chrome, Nickel and Pewter and features a slim spout and curved lines.
Merlyn

Celebrating its 20th birthday this year, Merlyn is returning to kbb Birmingham and taking the opportunity to introduce a series of new products to the retail sector, including an addition to the Arysto collection, as well as showcasing its Red Dot Award-winning Arysto Series 8 infold door. Detailed information about other new products is being kept secret until the show, but the brand is promising the launch of “something a little different.”

Lochanna

This outing is set to be Lochanna’s debut at kbb Birmingham, and the company will be displaying a selection of its recently launched products, including the traditional-style Durham collection, which is pictured here in Warm Earth and Pearl. It will also be unveiling its new product concepts for 2020, including three new collections, as well as highlighting to visitors how the brand can offer great products at an affordable price point.

Fisher & Paykel will be showcasing a black version of its double DishDrawer, which features 15 different wash programmes including an eco option to minimise water and energy usage. Another highlight on the stand will be its new touchscreen oven, which provides a guided cooking experience, and will also be available in a fully black version to enable kitchen designers to co-ordinate products with different colour schemes.

With a stand spanning 90sq m, Abode will be displaying several new tap styles, as well as additions to its Pronteau steaming hot water tap range.
