Lec Medical - part of Glen Dimplex Home Appliances - is launching a new campaign on the 14th May, inspired by the nation’s weekly tradition to Clap for Carers.

The company, which has been supplying the NHS, pharmacies and care homes with medical fridges and freezers for more than 20 years, is launching ‘Cookies for Carers’, an initiative which allows NHS and healthcare workers to be nominated by colleagues, friends and family to receive a decorated Care Hero cookie by post.

A nomination form on the Lec Medical website (www.lec-medical.co.uk/cookiesforcarers/) allows users to nominate friends, family or colleagues who work for the NHS, pharmacies or care homes and to send them a free sweet treat via Royal Mail. The nomination form will be open on the Lec Medical website every Thursday from 9am, closing at midnight.

The handmade iced cookies will be delivered through the post in a letter box-sized box requiring no contact.

Mike Butt, MD of Lec Medical, said: ‘The UK’s care heroes are inspiring all of us with their acts of bravery, determination and selflessness. We wanted to allow people to send these individuals a simple treat in the post. It’s a small gesture, but we know many care workers are working long hours and self-isolating to reduce the risk to their families, so we hope this will help lift their spirits and remind them that they are valued.’

Lec Medical recently announced it has increased its production of medical refrigeration products to meet an increase in demand triggered by Covid-19 and earlier this month donated product to a Ministry of Defence test centre in the South of England. Staff at GDHA’s manufacturing site in Merseyside, who usually work on other brands such as Stoves and Belling, have been drafted in to help meet production demand.
