The project shortlisted by Zhuang and Hou – who are students at Loughborough University London – is Bath-theater, which is an “intelligent” car-mounted public bathroom designed for homeless people.
More than 5,000 students participated in the competition, Roca said, with the final 12 coming from 11 different countries. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Disseny Hub Barcelona in October.
The jury for the competition – which is chaired by Brazilian architect Ruy Ohtake – “valued the innovative design of the 12 selected projects and their vision of a leap into the future, taking into account the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations which set the agenda in sustainability until 2030”.
