Tom Howley to run London Marathon for Manchester Children’s Hospital
The bespoke kitchen maker aims to raise £10,000 for the trust
Tom Howley, the Design Director of the eponymous bespoke kitchen maker, has announced that he will be running the London Marathon this April.
Howley aims to raise £10,000 in sponsorship, and is to run in aid of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Charity’s Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
He explained: “In October, my wife Mary and I were invited to the launch of Manchester in Mind supporting Manchester Children’s Hospital and Mental Health Charities for young adults in Manchester. Having come to understand the overwhelming services provided at Manchester Children’s Hospital I have made the ‘daring’ decision to run the London Marathon for Manchester Children’s Hospital.
"My history with running is sparse. I've always tried to stick to a routine of going to the gym partly because I enjoy a meal with a glass of wine, but running is a totally different beast. Training 6 hours each week is going to be quite a task!
"It’s undoubtedly a huge challenge, I'm excited and very nervous! At 52, running my first marathon is going to push me mentally and physically to the limit. Thank you to each and every one of you for your support.Running for Manchester Children’s Hospital on behalf of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Charity will help to ensure continued excellence in treatment, research and care - enhancing the lives of thousands of children and their families each year at their most worrying times. So please dig deep and help make a difference. I really appreciate your donation.”
